Ciba Specialty Chemicals says it is evaluating options for its underperforming paper chemical and its publication ink businesses,including a sale,joint ventures,and marketing and distribution alliances.The company also says it is planning a jv to expand its Mideast plastics additives capacity and is seeking acquisitions to bolster market share in its coating effects division,and that further details will be announced in the third quarter.Ciba plans to reshape its portfolio to focus on coatings,plastics additives,and water treatment chemicals,says CEO Brendan Cummins.
