Ample Gas Supply Inspires U.S. Gulf Coast Ethane-Cracker Study

Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP announced March 28 that it will advance a feasibility study to construct a world-scale ethane cracker for ethylene derivatives at one of its existing facilities in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. The feasibility study is expected to be complete by the end of 2011. The new facility would utilize the rising supplies of cost-advantaged feed stock sources expected from development of shale gas reserves in North America.
