The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken an initial step to approve Utah's revised regional haze plan that would allow PacifiCorp to bypass installing best available retrofit technology on its Hunter and Huntington coal-fired power plants. EPA yesterday proposed endorsing a plan set forward by Utah regulators late last year. The agency also said it would lift the federal plan it put in place in 2016 when it rejected a part of the state's plan that gave PacifiCorp credit for previously- made upgrades to its Hunter and Huntington coal-fired power plants and SO2 and NOx reductions from retiring the Carbon plant in 2015.
