Alaskan utility Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA)has agreed to pay $110,570 and install a mercury monitoringsystem at its Healy No. 2 coal plant to settle alleged environmentalviolations.The proposed consent decree between GVEA and the USEnvironmental Protection (EPA) agency was published in theFederal Register today, opening a public comment period thatwill run through 27 August.
