Colombia has earmarked 420 million dollars to reconstruct and rehabilitate the country's main railway, increasing coal shipments from the interior to Caribbean ports. The national planning department said the government will make available 420 million dollars over six years starting in 2009. The Colombian government's road and railroad concession regulator, INCO, is expected to open an international bidding process in late April to invite companies to build and reconstruct the railway, INCO told Argus.
