摘要

The development of molecular switching assemblies has attracted extensive research efforts recently, as they provide the basis ior molecular electronic and optoelectronic devices. Optical, electrochemical, thermal, and pH triggering signals have beenused to activate svvitchable molecular functions. Electrochemical translocation of molecular components in supramolecular complexes was reported as a mechanism for electroactivaled molecular switches. Light-controlled association of ions to photoisomerizable molecular receptors and activation of ion- transport systems represents optical switching at the molecular level. Similarly, light-signaled formation or dissociation of donor- acceptor complexes (like the association of the cis-azobenzene 4,4'-bipyridinium salt to the eosin dye. which acts as electron donor) represents an optical molecular switch.
