摘要

Although recent efforts have suggested that it should he possible to synthesize niesoporous materials from transition metal oxides by molecular self-assembly of organic templatmg agents and inorganic oxides, to date there has been no repori of this technique successfully generating such materials which could maintain a stable mesoporous structure upon removal of the organic micelles. Mesoporous materials, such as the aiuminosilieate-based MCM-41, have pores with diameters ir the 20 100 A range; in contrast, the pore diameters in zeolites are less than 15 A. Mesoporous oxides have potential application as solid electrolyte devices, as sorbents. and in catalytic processes where high surface area, fast diffusion, and large pore sizes are necessary forhigh performance.
