Formal Total Synthesis of(+)-Zaragozic Acid C through an Ireland-Claisen Rearrangement**

摘要

The zaragozic acids and squalestatins are structurally related fungal metabolites isolated independently by several industrial research groups in the early 1990s.These compounds were identified as potent inhibitors of squalene synthase and showed promise as cholesterol-lowering compounds.In addition,some zaragozic acids inhibit farnesyl protein transferase and thus show potential as antitumor agents.
