China has room to lift tax rebates on exported aluminum products and is entitled to impose tariffs on imported aluminum, Wen Xianjun, vice chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, said Oct. 29."Unlike tax-free exports from other countries, China's exported aluminium products still bear a value-added tax of 17 percent. Even considering tax rebates on such products of up to 13 to 15 percent, these products still have a tax burden of 2 to 3 percentage points," he told delegates at the China Aluminum Forum in Qingdao.
