The short-term outlook for the copper scrap market is bleak, according to some industry sources, pointing to a planned maintenance outage at a large copper mill that will dramatically reduce scrap demand over the next three weeks and leave excess units in the market."One consumer will be shutting furnaces down (in) November (due to annual) repairs," one supplier source told AMM, noting that "in past years (the situation led to) other buyers (widening) their (price) spreads."
