Port of Houston deepens, widens container channel

The Port of Houston Authority has completed dredging work that deepens and widens the channel for its Barbours Cut Container Terminal, in a move that has already captured new business.Dredging funded by the authority deepened the channel to 45 feet from 40, to match the existing Houston Ship Channel, and was finished Sept. 15, the authority said.
