Evraz posts first-half net loss despite robust NA demand

Evraz Plc's North American operations accounted for an increasing share of the company's revenue during the first half, but the steelmaker fell into the red on weaker steel prices and an uncertain global economy. The London-based steelmaker and miner posted a net loss of $50 million for the six months ended June 30 in contrast to net income of $263 million in the same period last year on revenue that fell 9.1 percent to $7.62 billion from $8.38 billion.
