On March 25, as the clock struck midnight, 135 birders on 31 teams grabbed their binoculars and set out for the salt pools, reservoirs, valleys, and agricultural areas in and around Eilat, the southernmost city in Israel.They were participants in the second Champions of the Fly way competition, an international race to find as many bird species as possible in one of the world's most spectacular migration hotspots in just 24 hours.
