摘要

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatment is accompanied by alterations of peritoneal tissues. These comprise not only morphological changes but also modifications in the function of the peritoneum used as a dialysis membrane (18). Peritoneal membrane dysfunction is an important case of discontinuation of PD, especially in long-term patients. Continuous exposure to bioincompatible dialysis solutions is likely to be most important for the development of the peritoneal changes (30). It is generally attributed mainly to high glucose content and hyper-tonicity. Besides uremia itself (28), the presence of a peritoneal catheter (12) and frequent peritonitis episodes (26) contribute.
