摘要

The nobel prize in physiology or medicine was awarded to Brown and Goldstein in 1985 for their discovery of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor and its importance in the regulation of cholesterol metabolism (2). Cholesterol, an essential component of the mammalian cell membrane, is transported within the circulation by a class of particles called lipoproteins. In humans, the most abundant cholesterol-containing lipoprotein, LDL, is removed from the blood primarily via hepatic LDL-receptor-mediated endocytosis
