Canadian special review clears dichlorvos

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposes to allow the continued registration of the organophosphate insecticide, dichlorvos, following a special review of the active ingredient. The Agency concludes that dichlorvos does not pose unacceptable risks to human health or the environment, taking into account the implementation of proposed conditions of use. In October 2017, the PMRA proposed a number of restrictions on dichlorvos, including the cancellation of certain uses, due to human health concerns about residential and occupational exposure.
