Evaluation of the effectiveness of some fungicides against fig endosepsis disease

Fig endosepsis disease [Fusarium spp.) is important disease of male or female fig fruits as well as parthenocarpic cultivars. The study was conducted in 2006-2008 in Aydin province of Turkey to evaluate the effectiveness of some fungicides against this disease. In the first step of studies, efficacy of fungicides was evaluated on collected mamme fruits. Only in 2008, for each treatment fruits were cut vertically into two pieces; a piece was dipped to fungicide suspension while the other piece of samefruit to water. Fruits pieces were then placed in plastic boxes and incubated 10 days at 24°C. After incubation period a small piece of each fruit was put to Potato Dextrose Agar medium to determine the contamination of fruits by Fusarium spp. At the second step conducted under natural conditions, mamme fruits that were treated with fungicides and then hung to male fig trees to get healthy caprifigs. Caprifigs from each treatment were used for pollination of 'Sarilop' fruits. After ripening of 'Sarilop' fruits, contamination rates with Fusarium spp. were determined to evaluate the effectiveness of fungicide treatments. Results of these studies showed that the treatments of mamme fruits with prochloraz (45 niL a.i L 1) and tebuconazole (0.6 g a.i I1)were the most effective fungicides in reducing the occurrence of this disease in 'Sarilop' fruits.
