Indiana approves permits for Alliance, Sunrise coal mines

Extensions and renewals have been approved forsome of Indiana’s largest underground coal mines, a state miningofficial said Tuesday.Colleen Baughman, permit supervisor for the Indiana Departmentof Natural Resources’ Division of Reclamation office, said she recentlyapproved a 1,098-acre shadow area for Alliance Resource Partners’Gibson South mine near Princeton in Gibson County. The permit will beofficially issued January 15.
