US coal-fired power generation totaled 96,743 TWh inSeptember, down 16% from August, the largest month-on-month dropsince February, when it was 30.9%, US Energy InformationAdministration data showed Tuesday.Coal generation dipped 1.7% from September 2017, the smallestchange from a year-ago month since a 2.8% increase in January.Coal-fired generation fell 18% from the five-year Septemberaverage of 117,950 TWh.Coal’s share of total power generation was 27.1% in September,down from 28.1% in August.
