Kentucky Power gets PSC approval to sell Mitchell plant coal

Kentucky regulators on Thursday approvedKentucky Power’s application to sell its portion of roughly 400,000st of Northern Appalachian coal earmarked for delivery this year tothe 1,560-MW Mitchell generating station in West Virginia.The Public Service Commission essentially gave the AmericanElectric Power subsidiary pre-approval through December 31 to sellup to 200,000 st through a broker to unaffiliated third parties afterconcluding such a transaction “is consistent with the publicinterest, is for a proper purpose, and should be approved.”
