Alpha sets 2018 sales guidance up to 7.8 mil st met coal, 6.8 mil st thermal

Alpha Natural Resources expects its 2018 sales of up to14.6 million st, a volume near projected year-end 2017 sales of 14.9million st, the Central Appalachian coal producer said Wednesday.Alpha estimated 2018 metallurgical sales of 6.8 million st to 7.8million st, with the high end of the range near projected 2017 totalsof 7.9 million st. Alpha has yet to report full 2017 sales, but said Q4met sales were expected to be 1.9 million st and thermal sales of1.7 million st.
