Supramax dry bulk shipowners can command upwards of $4,000/day more for a longhaul petcoke cargo than for a long-haul grains cargo sailing from the US Gulf Coast, sources say. This premium has increased from around $1,500-2,000/day in October and November, according to shipping operators working in the region. Long-haul grain cargoes sailing from the US Gulf Coast have been scarce since China instituted a 25% tariff on US grains imports.
