Houston—The US Department of Energy will award $37 million to seven research projects to advance power generation technology that incorporate coal, as well as another $81 million in new funding opportunities for similar projects, the department announced June 17. The funding supports the department’s Coal FIRST initiative, which stands for Flexible, Innovative, Resilient, Small and Transformative.
