The NYMEX February gas futures contract slid 4.3 cents Thursday to settle at $2.077/MMBtu amid a stronger-than-expected withdrawal report from the US Energy Information Administration. The front-month contract moved between $2.071/MMBtu and $2.170/MMBtu. Prices gained more than 2 cents earlier in the day, likely on the back of the bullish withdrawal report. “Prices are seeing a bounce back based on colder-than-normal weather coming next week and larger-than-expected withdrawal released [Thursday],” said Daniel Myer, an analyst at Gelber & Associates.
