NYMEX May gas bounces back from multi-year lows, climbs ahead of weekend

The NYMEX May natural gas futures contract bounced back from multi-year lows Friday, climbing above the $1.60/MMBtu threshold for the first time in three trading sessions. May rose 6.9 cents day on day to $1.621/MMBtu. Down the curve, contracts also strengthened, with June and July climbing 6.6 cents and 7.2 cents, respectively. The uptick in the front-month contract snapped two consecutive sessions where the contract hit 20-year lows.
