US met coal prices remain supported Wednesday by higher pricing in Asia-Pacific markets and futures quotes. In Asia, prices in the region make US arbitrage and relative pricing more attractive. Chinese domestic coking coal prices are high, and authorities are starting to exempt additional import taxes for US coals imposed in 2018 and 2019 since an effective March start for processing applications, according to market sources. Fresh US low-vol positions to China are shipping against expectations buyers in the country will not have to pay more than the usual 3% duty, This is shoring up US low-vols prices.
