Atlantic met coal prices weakened Tuesday, with more competition to supply into scarcer spot destinations in the region. S&P Global Platts assessed US East Coast low-vol HCC down $1 at $181/mt FOB, based on 58% coke strength after reaction and 19% volatile matter material. The Platts US high-vol A index fell $1 to $198/mt FOB USEC, based on 32% volatile matter, 1.1% reflectance straight coal and low ash and sulfur, and CSR typically in the low 60s.
