US coal carloads totaled 80,105 in the week ended February 16, up 5.6% from the prior week and making up 15.3% of total railroad traffic, American Association of Railroads data showed Wednesday. However, for the fourth week in a row carloads have fallen from the year-ago week. In the most recent week, coal traffic dropped 8.9%. Plus, compared with the same period last year carloads were down 3.1% in the first seven weeks of the year.
