Firstenergy solutions to accelerate deactivation of mansfield coal-fired plant

Bankrupt power provider FirstEnergy Solutions has decided to accelerate the deactivation of the Bruce Mansfield coal- fired plant in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, to November 7. The company notified PJM Interconnection that it was moving the deactivation date of the remaining Mansfield unit 3 from June 1, 2021, due to lack of economic viability in current market conditions. The company previously deactivated Bruce Mansfield units 1 and 2 on February 5.
