Powder River Basin drives 3.7% week-on- week drop in coal train loadings: sTB

US coal train loadings averaged 88.7 trains/day in the week that ended February 8, down 4.2 trains/day week on week, data from the US Surface Transportation Board showed Thursday. Loadings dropped 7.6 trains/day year on year, the largest year-over- year drop for week six since the 2016 total fell 39.8 trains/day compared with the corresponding 2015 week. The most recent week’s fall was largely due to a 3.1 trains/day week-on-week drop in the Powder River Basin.
