Secretary of Energy Rick Perry defended his department’s decision to approve requests of seven companies to share nuclear technology with Saudi Arabia, saying he supports efforts to help US companies to win a tender for new nuclear reactors to be built in that country. Perry spoke at a forum March 29 in Washington hosted by news website RealClearPolitics and sponsored by the coal lobby. Perry also took the opportunity to express support for the US nuclear fleet and disagree with recent news reports that the administration was trying to sidestep Congress on nuclear energy technology transfers to Saudi Arabia.
