India imported more than 237 million mt of coal and coke in 2018, up 14.1% from 2017, despite a large drop in the country’s petcoke imports, India-based Lavi Coal said Friday. Petcoke imports dropped the most year on year, down 44.9%, given restrictions on petcoke imports implemented in August along with the replacement of petcoke usage with coal as seaborne coal prices fell in the latter half of the year, India-based Lavi said in a report.
