ZnO samples with different morphology were prepared via hydrothermal method by adjusting the pH value with ammonia water. The SEM micrographs display the formation of spindle-like ZnO to flower-like nanostructures by varying the pH values from 8 to 11. The triethylamine sensing characteristics of ZnO nanostructures were investigated. The sensor based on pH 10 shows the high response of 30.61-100 ppm TEA, a response/recovery time less than 13 s, good selectivity and repeatability at optimum operating temperature of 340 degrees C. Compared to other sensors, the higher response of pH 10 may be owed to the surface morphology and larger special surface area.
