Wanhua plans worldscale ethylene and derivatives complex

Wanhua Chemical Group (Yantai, China) is planning to build a steam cracker with a capacity of 1 million metric tons/year of ethylene, as well as a derivatives complex, at Yantai. The company is planning to invest 17.7 billion renminbi ($2.67 billion) for the project. It will be Wanhua's first cracker and marks a major diversification initiative for the company. The steam cracker will use the ethane resources from Wanhua's first phase project at the Yantai site, as well as purchased propane or n-butane, as feedstock.
