DowDupont starts up new Freeport cracker, PE plant

DowDuPont Materials Science, the business division of DowDuPont to be named Dow, has begun startup of a new ethane cracker and integrated polyethylene (PE) plant at Freeport, Texas. The company expects both units to reach full operating rates in the fourth quarter of 2017. The new cracker has capacity to produce 1.5 million metric tons/year (MMt/y) of ethylene.
