Lanxess completes ?2.4-billion acquisition of Chemtura

Lanxess on Friday completed its ?2.4 billion ($2.64 billion) acquisition of Chemtura. The deal broadens Lanxess’ portfolio in flame retardant and lubricant additives, as well as urethane polymers, and organometallics. Lanxess will form a new specialty additives segment consisting of the Chemtura additives business and its Rhein Chemie business units, which comprises the existing rubber and color additives businesses of Lanxess. The combined business will be headed up by Anno Borkowsky, who was previously head of Rhein Chemie. The combined additives business has annual sales of approximately ?2 billion and 2,900 employees worldwide.
