Seven new M&A deals were announced during the week ended 24 April, compared with five during the week prior. North America was by far the favored target region for the second week in a row. While the week's transactions were generally minor, Sibur's sale of Uralorgsintez to EKTOS was of note. Uralorgsintez is a maker of fuel components, including methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and benzene. The deal is part of a plan by Sibur to divest non-core assets as the company ramps up its polyolefins capacity.
