Wacker to expand silicon metal capacity in Norway

Wacker Chemie says it will invest ?85 million ($89.7 million) to expand capacity at its silicon-metal site at Holla, Norway. The company is constructing a new plant at the site with an undisclosed “world-scale annual capacity.” Completion is expected during the frst half of 2019. The Holla plant currently has capacity to produce 50,000 metric tons/ year of silicon metal. “At present, Holla covers around a quarter of our silicon-metal requirements.
