Cefic: EU chemical output slipped in 2018, will stabilize in 2019

Chemical production has declined 0.5% year over year (YOY) in the European Union during 2018, according to Cefc. The fgure represents a slowdown in output toward the end of the year. Cefc said earlier that EU chemical output increased 0.2% YOY in the year to September. The decrease in production was caused by the higher price of oil, lower demand for chemicals from the automotive sector, and unusually low water levels in European rivers, which caused transportation delays, Cefc says.
