摘要

Inner Mongolia Jiutai New Material has selected Johnson Matthey’s and Eastman Chemical’s proprietary technology for the production of monoethylene glycol (MEG) from coal. The facility will be built at Togtoh, Inner Mongolia, and will be designed to produce 1 million metric tons/year (MMt/y) of MEG. Jiutai’s coal-to-chemicals complex will produce synthesis gas by the gasification of coal. The synthesis gas will be converted to methanol, which will in turn be converted to formaldehyde from which MEG will be produced. Today, the majority of the world’s MEG is produced from ethylene, but the new process enables the production from a variety of raw materials, including coal, natural gas, and biomass.
