JV to convert plastic waste into PET resin and polyester

Indorama Ventures, through its subsidiary Indorama Ventures Holdings LP, USA, and Loop Industries (Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada), a technology innovator in sustainable plastic resin and polyester, have entered into an agreement to form an equally owned joint venture, Indorama Loop Technologies (ILT) to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin and polyester fiber from beverage and consumer packaged goods companies. The new facility will be built in the United States, Loop tells CW. The company declines to provide more details. The partnership brings together Indorama Venture’s manufacturing footprint and Loop’s proprietary technology. ILT will have a worldwide exclusive license to use the technology to produce 100% sustainable PET resin and polyester fiber, with plans to begin production in the first quarter of 2020.
