Kemira's profit rises on higher sales

Kemira has reported a net profit of €23.5 million ($27.3 million) in the second quarter of 2018, compared with €19.6 million in the corresponding quarter of 2017, an increase of 19.9% year over year (YOY). Operative EBIT was €45.1 million, up by 3.4% YOY, although the margin slipped slightly from 7.1% to 7%. Operative EBITDA was €80.2 million, 4% higher than in the year-ago quarter, mainly because of higher sales prices, which offset increases in variable costs, according to Kemira. The operative EBITDA margin was 12.4%, down slightly from 12.5% a year ago.
