Ineos has confirmed that it is considering the possibility of building a 1-million metric ton/year (MMt/y) steam cracker in northern Europe. Ineos group director Tom Crotty said in a recent interview with the Financial Times that the com- pany could build a cracker in the region. "A 1 MMt/y ethylene cracker is under consideration in northern Europe and would mean a $2–3 billion investment," the FT report says.
