Reliance Industries' earnings soar on higher volumes and prices

Reliance Industries on Friday reported a 25.1% increase in its consoli- dated net proft in the third quarter of fscal 2018 ending 31 December 2017, to 94.2 billion Indian rupees ($1.48 billion) on the back of higher refining margins, petrochemicals and its telecom arm Jio. Operating proft was up 38.4% to 141.7 billion rupees while revenue advanced 30.5% to 1.099 trillion rupees, primarily due to higher volumes fol- lowing the start-up of petrochemical projects and increase in prices in refining and petrochemicals.
