SGL to expand specialty graphite capacity in Germany

SGL Group (Wiesbaden, Germany) is investing ?25 million ($31 million) to expand specialty graphite production capacity at its Bonn, Germany, site over the next four years. The expansion is set to be complete by 2020. The company says it is expanding because of steadily increasing demand from the automotive industry for solutions and components based on specialty graphite. The material finds application in areas such as bearings for water pumps and exhaust gas management, rotors and vanes in vacuum pumps, and sealing rings for seals.
