Wacker could see COVID-19 earnings impact of more than €100 million

Wacker Chemie (Munich, Germany) today confrmed its 2019 full- year results, including a net loss of €630 million ($700 million), the largest in the company’s history, on a polysilicon impairment charge of €760 million. Sales were down 1% to €4.93 billion due to lower prices, particularly for solar-grade polysilicon and standard silicones. Sales were supported by generally higher volumes, product-mix efects, and the year-on-year (YOY) rise in the US dollar. EBITDA declined 16% to €783.4 million, and the EBITDA margin was down from 18.7% in 2018 to 15.9% last year.
