N. America chemical rail up 1.8% YOY

During the week ended 8 February, chemical railcar trafc in North America increased 1.4% year over year (YOY) as gains in the US and Mexico ofset a decline in Canada. Volume totaled 44,405 carloads, down 4.1% from the previous week, according to data released on 12 February by the Association of American Railroads (AAR). On a four-week basis, volume declined 0.9% from 2019 and increased 0.7% from 2018 (chart). For the year to date, chemical railcar trafc in North America is down 0.9%.
