Ardian in $2.25-billion acquisition of 50% stake in Angus Chemical

Private equity frm Ardian has agreed to buy a 50% ownership stake in Angus Chemical Co. (Bufalo Grove, Illinois) from fellow private equity company Golden Gate Capital for a total enterprise value of approximately $2.25 billion. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year, Ardian says. Golden Gate (San Francisco) acquired Angus, the former nitroalkanes business of Dow Chemical, in February 2015 and will retain its remaining 50% stake. The growth prospects, “both organic and via acquisition,” at Angus, in addition to its management team, product set, and resilience, made it an ideal investment, according to Christopher Sand, director/buyouts at Ardian (Paris, France).
