Dow has declared force majeure on ethylene oxide (EO) manufactured at its Plaquemine, Louisiana, facility, and the company does not expect the situation to be resolved before late November at the earliest, according to a letter sent to customers on 5 November. The explosion at the Plaquemine Glycol 2 plant on 3 November “has prevented all production of ethylene oxide, and also prevents the loading or unloading of ethylene oxide railcars,” says the letter.
