Altivia to buy Dow's acetone derivatives business

Dow has agreed to sell its acetone derivatives business to Altivia (Houston, Texas). The deal, which is expected to close this year, includes production assets at Institute, West Virginia, as well as the site’s infrastructure, land, and utilities. Dow says it will be a tenant at the Institute site, retaining ownership of other manufacturing assets. Financial terms were not disclosed. "Acquiring this facility and associated technology provides downstream expansion for Altivia's acetone production capacity and access to global markets for acetone derivatives," says the company's CEO, J. Michael Jusbasche.
